Before you begin
We are so excited to serve the Lord with you this summer! In order to share the love of God with the children in our communities, we host several fun filled training sessions to help us get ready for the upcoming challenges. If it is your first time training with CEF things can get overwhelming quickly, so we recommend that you take the following steps to prepare to teach the gospel this summer.
Preparation Steps
- Create an Account with Children’s Ministries Institute (CMI)
CMI provides tons of helpful training resources and will be a huge help to you as you are practicing and preparing. When you go to cefcmi.com, you will see a “sign up” button in the top right hand corner. You will be asked for your name and email address. Once you create an account, you will see a green success banner and a link just below to log in.
- Get Familiar with Your Dashboard
At this time, there is no need to complete your profile although you are welcome to do so. Click around a bit and explore. Try to locate your “my courses” tab and explore a little bit of what CMI is all about.
- Enroll in Your First Course
At the left of your dashboard in CMI online you should see a list of navigation options. Click on “Courses.” This will take you to a list of courses CMI provides. In the “Search Courses” bar look up the terms “wordless book”. The course you want to enroll in is called “The Wordless Book Training.” If you click on that free course and hit the enroll button, you are all set. You can now access this course from your “my courses” tab. Do not sweat it! This course is completely self-paced, and we will give you further instructions after you attend your first local pre-training.
- Attend Your First Local Training Session
See the “upcoming tab” for our current local training dates. We recommend that you do not move on to phase 3 until after attending Wordless Book training in person. Be sure to bring any signed application forms with you to your first in-person training session along with a notebook, Bible, and pen or pencil. If you are not able to attend in-person Wordless Book training, do not worry. Contact the CYIA director and continue on to phase 3.
