Before you begin
ATTENTION: Do not begin phase 3 until you have attended the first training session (Wordless Book) or have communicated with the CYIA Coordinator. The purpose of phase 3 is to reinforce the training you will receive at our in-person Wordless Book training and prepare you for your upcoming evaluations. The following steps also can provide alternative (online) training for students who are unable to attend in-person training.
Practice Steps
- Schedule an Online Interview
Now that you have attended your first training session it is time to take a little breather. Put aside your notes for a minute and schedule an interview with your CYIA Coordinator by email. Email studentassistants@cefsandhills.com, listing three potential interview dates and times. DO NOT stress out over this interview. It is informal (so no fancy dress) and just a way for us to get to know you better.
- Starting Your Wordless Book Training Online
During our first training session, we covered a lot of information regarding the wordless book. Head on over to CMI Online and sign in. Go to your “My Courses” tab and start the free course. You will be taken to the seminar overview section. This section gives you some helpful instructions for how to approach the seminar. Watch each presentation and then pause to practice in between. You will also see a resources tab. Take advantage of any of the resources you find helpful! We will also have provided you with some resources during training as well that may be helpful during this course. Overall, this is an opportunity for you to learn and practice the wordless book at YOUR pace. Make sure you interact with the material and only move forward when you feel confident in what you have learned.
- Seminar Presentation Part One
Go ahead and get settled in. Bring your notes, Bible, bookmarks, and anything else you will need for this first training session. Some of the information will be a repeat of what we covered in training and we encourage you to take note of any similarities and differences. While the core truths will remain the same this course will provide suggestions for interactions, how to mark your Bible, and so much more. Go ahead and watch the first section of the presentation pausing to practice when recommended. Remember there is no pressure to finish the whole presentation in one sitting. Break it up into smaller pieces and take your time! This session will cover the gold, dark, red, clean, and green pages.
- Seminar Presentation Part Two
This part of the training course is a 15 minute demonstration of the Wordless Book. As you watch this presentation, follow along as the presenter hits each of the main points on the pages. Take note of any interactions with the child as well as ways they make the scriptures personal to the child. After you finish watching the demonstration, it is your turn. Find a sibling or parent to practice on. Even if you are feeling nervous, be strong and of good courage! The Lord is with you. If you practice on someone you know first it will be easier to do it for someone you do not know. If doing it to a real live person is a little too intimidating, find a stuffed animal to practice on first and then move on to a person. Congratulations on completing your wordless book training session! You are now ready to move onto phase 4.
